“Calling All Assembly Voting Members”

The thirty-first annual assembly of the Grand Canyon Synod will convene on Thursday, June 14, in Resurrection Lutheran Church, Oro Valley, just north of Tucson. But before the assembly, we have important work to do together.

Voting members of the assembly from the 89 congregations of this synod will prepare for the assembly in spring Conference Gatherings. These meetings will be crucial for understanding the process used in the calling of the next bishop of the synod.  The gatherings – from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. – will take place as follows:

April 21
Cactus and Capital Conferences (together)

April 28
Northeast Valley, Rio Salado, and Fiesta Conferences (together)

May 5
High Country Conference

May 12
Colorado River Conference

May 19
Santa Cruz and Sunrise Conferences (together)

The meeting locations are posted on the synod’s website on the  2018 Bishop’s Election Information page. Please alert the assembly voting members from your congregation of the dates for these strategic gatherings. These gatherings are not exclusive for voting members, pastors, and deacons. Others interested in the process for the calling of a bishop will be welcome, too.
