Synod is "US" Information
In the summer of 2010 Bishop Talmage began meeting with each of the nine conferences in the Grand Canyon Synod in informal "Synod is "US" gatherings. The purpose of these 90-minute events with rostered leaders, congregational officers, council members, and lay people was to discuss:
- What does it mean to be partners in mission and ministry?
- How do we be Church together?
- Sharing how the congregational, synodical, and churchwide partnership is currently functioning and discussing what this means for our congregations.
- How do local congregations benefit from participating in the work of the larger church?
- What is God expecting from us and what is required of us?
- How do we improve our channels of communication?
Bishop Talmage's hope is that each participant received a better picture of our current life together, the importance of partnership and mission interpretation, and the need to do some things differently than we have done in the past.
