On Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., Mountain View Lutheran Church (11002 S. 48th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85044) will host its annual Blessing of the Animals service in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, the Patron Saint of Animals and the environment.
All are welcome to bring their well-behaved pets—or a photo of a beloved animal—to receive a blessing. This event is a joyful reminder that, as St. Francis taught, “all creatures are brothers and sisters under God.” View the Facebook event page.
Born in the 12th century, Francis of Assisi is remembered for his humility, devotion to poverty, and care for all creation. His legacy inspires the church to lift up the interconnection between humans, animals, and the environment. In blessing our pets, we give thanks for the companionship, joy, and love that God’s creatures bring into our lives.
