As food insecurity continues to rise across Arizona, Mount of Olives Lutheran Church remains steadfast in its response—serving nearly 300 family units each week through its Olive Branch Food Closet.

The community is invited to gather again for Jazz Vespers on Sunday, June 14 at 5:30 PM, featuring Beth Lederman, Diana Lee, and Steven Powell. This event is part of the ongoing “Music for Food” ministry, where worship and music come together to support neighbors experiencing hunger.

Recent developments impacting SNAP benefits have increased pressure on families across the state, and local ministries are seeing the effects in real time. Mount of Olives continues to respond through both direct service and opportunities like Jazz Vespers—bringing people together in community and compassion.

The evening will include live jazz in a reflective worship setting, followed by fellowship and light refreshments. Participants are invited to come, listen, connect, and support this vital ministry.

The Olive Branch Food Closet, which began in the 1980s serving just a handful of families, now partners with St. Mary’s Food Bank and Waste Not to serve hundreds each week—an embodiment of Christ’s call to care for our neighbors.

As Lutherans, we are grounded in a faith that is lived out in love for the neighbor. This gathering offers a simple and meaningful way to participate in that calling.

All are welcome. Come for the music. Stay for the fellowship. Be part of what God is doing in and through this community.
