  • January 22–24, 2026 | Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary, Berkeley, CA

Leaders across the ELCA are invited to gather this January for a three-day Evangelism and Congregational Vitality Workshop, held Thursday–Saturday, January 22–24, 2026, at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary (PLTS) in Berkeley, California.

This in-person gathering is designed for lay leaders, rostered ministers, and ministry partners who are seeking to deepen their capacity to share the good news of Jesus Christ in meaningful, contextually grounded ways. Together, participants will explore evangelizing, congregational vitality, and fresh expressions of church—rooted in Lutheran theology and shaped by the realities of ministry today.

Sponsored by PLTS in partnership with the ELCA New Ministry Development and Evangelism Team, and shaped by collaboration among ELCA Region 2 synods, the workshop will offer teaching, conversation, and practical tools that participants can carry back to their congregations and communities.

Registration is required by January 6, 2026. Register here.

Registration and lunches are provided. Participants are responsible for lodging, dinners, travel, and transportation. For questions related to registration, contact Abril Coronel at Abril.Coronel@elca.org.

For those unable to travel to Berkeley—or for congregational teams seeking a more local experience—this gathering is directly connected to a Saturday, January 24 hybrid workshop hosted by participating synods, including an option to gather locally within the Grand Canyon Synod. Details about that opportunity are here: Leaning into the “E” Word: A Local Evangelism Workshop, Jan 24, 2026.

Whether traveling to PLTS or gathering locally, these January workshops invite us to be renewed in our shared calling: to proclaim Christ’s good news with creativity, courage, and hope.
