Is God Tapping You on the Shoulder? ELCA Seminaries Virtual Discernment Event

Are you discerning a call to ministry, theological education, or leadership in the church? Join representatives from all seven ELCA seminaries for the Virtual Discernment Event on Sunday, September 27, 2026, via Zoom.

The event runs:

  • 2–4 p.m. Arizona (MST), Navajo Nation (MDT), and Utah (MDT)

  • 1–3 p.m. Southern Nevada, including Las Vegas (PDT)

Participants will meet seminary representatives, learn about flexible and affordable degree and certificate programs, and ask questions about discernment, seminary life, and next steps. Register here or visit the ELCA Seminaries website.

For Lutherans, vocation is more than a job title. In baptism, God calls each of us to love and serve our neighbors through the gifts we have been given. For some, that call may include rostered ministry, theological study, or other forms of leadership in the church and world. Discernment is not a journey we take alone; it unfolds through prayer, conversation, learning, and the encouragement of the community.

ELCA seminaries are communities of formation where students study Scripture, explore theology, and prepare to communicate God’s living Word in changing contexts. Their programs equip leaders and teachers to listen—to God, one another, and the world—and to serve with confidence in God’s grace.

Can’t attend on September 27? You can still explore the schools or join an online discernment group. These groups bring together fellow seekers and a discernment mentor for three sessions of reflection, conversation, and exploration of where God may be leading.
