A full year of joyful music and faithful service — that’s what Mount of Olives Lutheran Church in Phoenix is celebrating this December as Jazz Vespers marks its one-year anniversary. The next Jazz Vespers gathering will be held Saturday, December 7, featuring the return of beloved musicians Beth Lederman and Sandra Bassett at 5:30 p.m., followed by a community reception at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free, and a freewill offering will support the Olive Branch Community of Hope Food Pantry.
Over the past year, Jazz Vespers — also known as the Music for Food ministry — has grown into a powerful expression of Matthew 25:35: “I was hungry and you gave me food.” Since its launch last December, the ministry has helped provide food to over 7,000 family units, offering nourishment, dignity, and hope to neighbors across Phoenix.
Last month nearly 60 people gathered for Jazz Vespers, raising almost $900 through offerings and additional pledges dedicated to hygiene items and protein for weekly food distribution. These gifts make a direct, tangible difference for families who rely on the Olive Branch Community of Hope, which continues to experience rising need in the surrounding community.
Mount of Olives invites all to come and celebrate this milestone — an evening where soulful jazz meets the call to serve. Bring a friend, enjoy exceptional music, and join in strengthening a ministry that feeds both body and spirit.
