Through the summer months, Mount of Olives Lutheran Church continues its faithful response to growing hunger in Arizona. Each week, the congregation serves nearly 300 family units through its Olive Branch Food Closet—meeting an urgent and increasing need in the community.

The public is invited to gather for Jazz Vespers on Sunday, July 12 at 5:30 PM, featuring Beth Lederman and guest musicians. This ongoing “Music for Food” ministry blends worship, music, and service in support of those experiencing food insecurity.

With the continued impact of SNAP benefit losses across the state, ministries like this remain essential. Jazz Vespers offers a space to reflect, reconnect, and respond—grounded in faith and expressed through community action.

The evening includes live jazz in a contemplative worship setting, followed by fellowship and light refreshments. It is both a spiritual gathering and a tangible way to support the work of feeding neighbors in need.

What began decades ago as a small effort serving a few families has grown into a significant ministry, now partnering with St. Mary’s Food Bank and Waste Not to serve hundreds each week.

In a time of increasing need, this ministry continues to embody the Lutheran commitment to serve the neighbor. Your presence matters—both as encouragement to the community and as participation in God’s ongoing work.

All are welcome. Come for the music. Stay for the fellowship. Join in sustaining this vital ministry.
