All ELCA youth in grades 7–12 are invited to join an evening of games, faith, and fellowship on Sunday, October 26, 4–7 PM at Love of Christ Lutheran Church (1525 N Power Rd, Mesa, AZ 85205) .
The event begins with icebreakers to help youth meet new friends and build connections. From group games like Ship to Shore to creative activities and team challenges, the night is designed to strengthen community and highlight the gifts youth bring to the church.
A high school youth will share a personal message on the theme of Connection, reflecting on how belonging to the wider church has shaped their faith. Following the message, small groups divided by grade will discuss questions like:
When have you felt connected to a community?
How did it feel, and what did you accomplish together?
Each group will create a fun visual response—such as a skit, poem, or rap—to share with the larger gathering. Together, participants will help create a poster symbolizing the many words and gifts that form our shared community.
At 5:30 PM, everyone will enjoy a spaghetti dinner, with contributions provided by participating congregations and hospitality led by Love of Christ Lutheran. Churches are asked to bring assigned ingredients, and youth with dietary restrictions should bring their own alternatives.
The evening closes with more games, chosen by participants, such as kickball, human foosball, or a rock-paper-scissors tournament.
For Planning
Congregational leaders are asked to provide an estimated headcount of youth (by grade) and any parents attending. Parents are welcome to join in the evening, and leaders are considering whether a dedicated parent space is needed.
This gathering is an opportunity for youth to experience the joy of being church together—playing, praying, and sharing God’s gifts in community. As Paul reminds us, “For just as the body is one and has many members…so it is with Christ”(1 Corinthians 12:12).
We hope you’ll join us for this special night of connection and fellowship!
