Zoom Webinar: SYAT Collective Offers Tools for Youth Trip Leadership

Thursday, May 7 at 10:00am (Zoom) — Leaders across the Grand Canyon Synod are invited to a practical, connection-focused session designed to equip those preparing for summer youth trips. Hosted by the Synod Youth Advisory Team (SYAT) Collective, this online gathering will offer concrete tools, shared wisdom, and space for honest conversation.

Summer camps and mission trips are among the most formative experiences in the faith lives of young people. At the same time, the responsibility of preparing for them—especially when it comes to behavior expectations, group dynamics, and safety—can feel overwhelming.

This session, “Boundaries and Behaviors: Getting Ready for Summer Trips,” is designed to meet that reality with practical support and community. Participants will:

  • Learn how to create behavior covenants with youth and chaperones

  • Explore strategies for maintaining calm and focus during travel

  • Share best practices and learn from past challenges

  • Connect with colleagues across the synod and build supportive relationships

Whether you are a seasoned youth leader or stepping into this role for the first time, this gathering is for you.

As Lutherans, we trust that God is already at work in the lives of young people. Thoughtful preparation—grounded in care, boundaries, and mutual respect—helps create the conditions where faith can grow, relationships can deepen, and communities can flourish. This is part of how we accompany young people as they discover who they are in Christ and how they are called to serve their neighbor.

Details at a glance:
