We continue to pray for Dr. Mark Wickstrom, Interim Senior Pastor at Living Hope Lutheran in Las Vegas, as he continues treatments after a diagnosis with blood and kidney cancer.

In Memoriam: Rev. Robert S. Collins, Jr.

We pray for Rev. Robert S. Collins, Jr.’s family and friends after he passed away on May 25, 2023.

Rev. Collins was born September 13, 1935. He completed 21 years of service in the U.S. Navy active and reserve time. He retired in 1995 and moved to Prescott, Arizona.

A Prayer for Memorial Day

Almighty God, you are our strength and our shield. We give you thanks for the men and women of our armed forces, past and present, and especially for those who have died while serving. May their sacrifices serve the cause of peace, and may our nation be ever grateful for their service. With your wisdom and strength guide our military's leaders, and give to all people a desire for justice and peace. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Prayers for Pastor Phil Gustafson and his family after the unexpected death of his wife, Sandy, on April 28, 2023. Please keep Pastor Phil and family in your prayers. Pastor Phil is the interim pastor at Grace Lutheran in Phoenix. Her obituary is here.

A funeral service will be at Dream City Church (21000 N 75th Ave, Glendale, AZ 85308), on Friday, May 5, 2023, with a wake at 5pm and the service at 6pm with a reception to follow. Pastor Todd Matchett will be the presiding minister. The family asks that people attending in person please wear bright colors. The service will be live-streamed at dreamcityevents.com/memorial.

In Memoriam: Larry Struve

We share a letter from Vic Williams regarding the 4/15/2023 passing of Larry Struve, who was LEAN’s advocate for many years and was a lifelong member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Reno. “He was know by many people at both ends of the state of Nevada as a tireless advocate for our state’s voiceless and underserved.“

We also share a link to Larry Struve’s book, “A Humble Walk For Justice,” in which he recounts his years as LAMN/LEAN advocate.

In Memoriam: Rev. Raymond Stiffler

We pray for Rev. Raymond Stiffler’s family and friends after he passed away on January 20, 2023 in Jamestown, California. He served as a transition pastor at Prince of Peace in Phoenix until 2005.
