The list below includes pastors, deacons, and Synod Authorized Ministers (SAMs) available to serve as substitute worship leaders. Please contact individuals directly to discuss their availability and your congregation’s worship needs.
Please confirm arrangements for Holy Communion before scheduling a substitute. Pastors may preside at Holy Communion. Deacons and SAMs are not ordained to preside. A SAM’s authorization is specific to an assigned ministry setting and does not extend to other congregations where they may serve as a substitute. Contact the synod office if your congregation needs help arranging for Holy Communion.
Compensation and Expenses
Congregations should provide:
$250 for preaching at one service, plus $50 for each additional service during the same weekend.
Mileage reimbursement at the current IRS business mileage rate.
Hotel accommodations if an overnight stay is needed.
Please confirm compensation, travel arrangements, and worship responsibilities with the substitute leader in advance.
