Service to Sanctuary: One soldier's journey to find peace and purpose after war | Mountain View Lutheran in Phoenix

  • Mountain View Lutheran Church 11002 South 48th Street Phoenix, AZ, 85044 United States (map)

Join us Friday, September 19 at 7:00 p.m. at Mountain View Lutheran Church in Phoenix for a moving evening of music, storytelling, and healing. “Service to Sanctuary” features U.S. Army combat veteran Dr. Jason Phillips, who will share original compositions, live music performances, and the powerful story of his journey through war, trauma, and restoration.

Dr. Phillips, who served in the U.S. Army and endured the physical and emotional wounds of combat, now uses music as a spiritual sanctuary—a space of refuge and recovery. Through his testimony and performances, he invites others to witness how creative expression can be a path to peace and purpose.

As Lutherans, we affirm that God meets us in the midst of our suffering and offers renewal. Events like this echo the promise of Psalm 147:3—“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Dr. Phillips’ story serves as a testament to that healing grace.

This free public event is a unique opportunity for congregations, veterans, and the wider community to experience the transformative power of music and faith. We encourage you to invite friends, fellow veterans, and anyone seeking inspiration and hope.
