AFN: Help Keep Arizona’s Elections Peaceful and Welcoming
Arizona Faith Network’s newsletter offers opportunities to support peaceful elections, learn about ballot issues, and connect across faith traditions. Two dates to note now: Poll Chaplain and Peacekeeper training begins September 28, and AFN’s Annual Gathering is October 20.

Grounded in God’s grace, we can put love of neighbor into practice through informed civic participation, care for creation, and respectful interfaith relationships.
Support safe, welcoming elections
AFN seeks ordained faith leaders to serve as Poll Chaplains and lay leaders to serve as Peacekeepers during the November general election. No previous experience is necessary. All volunteers must complete one 2026 training session, offered via Zoom September 28 or October 15, 4–5:30 p.m. MST. Training covers de-escalation, voter protection, and connecting voters with assistance. Visit TurnoutSunday.com to register.

October 5, 6:30–8 p.m. MST: Arizona Corporation Commission candidate forum exploring utility costs, grid stability, and clean energy.
October 7, 5–5:45 p.m. MST: Poll Chaplain and Peacekeeper mobilization rally for trained volunteers, prospective participants, and community partners.
October 14, 5:30–6:30 p.m. MST: Free “What’s on Your Ballot?” webinar explaining Arizona races and statewide propositions without endorsing candidates or ballot positions.
Gather across faith traditions
Join faith and community leaders at AFN’s Annual Gathering on Tuesday, October 20, featuring keynote speaker Rev. Dr. Gary Mason and opening framing from AFN Board President Rev. Gerald P. Richard II. Find gathering details, register, or explore sponsorship opportunities.
The Vote Is Sacred Bus Tour offers free food, nonpartisan voter information, and interfaith prayer vigils. Each gathering begins at 5:30 p.m. local time:
October 27: First Church UCC, 1407 N. 2nd St., Phoenix.
October 29: Prince Chapel AME Church, 602 S. Stone Ave., Tucson.
November 3: Flagstaff Federated Church, 400 W. Aspen Ave., Flagstaff.

Other highlights include Monday meditation at noon MST via Zoom; an October 1 screening of Bad Faith in Tucson; an October 3 Citizen Forum on American Science in Phoenix; and an October 7 in-person ballot discussion in Tucson. Looking ahead, Rabbi Dr. Shmuly Yanklowitz will lead an online conversation about Psalms, family, faith, and grief on December 16, 6:30–8 p.m. MST.
