Arizona Faith Network Highlights Interfaith Dialogue, Advocacy, and Heat Relief Efforts

Arizona Faith Network’s latest newsletter is filled with opportunities for interfaith engagement, advocacy training, community care, and faithful action across Arizona. Congregational leaders, advocates, and community members are encouraged to read the newsletter in full and share it with others engaged in justice, dialogue, and service.

Among the upcoming events highlighted is a Sharing Sacred Spaces visit to the Mesa Arizona Temple Visitors’ Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Sunday, May 3 from 2:00–4:00 p.m. in Mesa. Participants are invited to explore LDS traditions, architecture, dialogue, and hospitality in an interfaith setting.

AFN is also hosting a two-part “Prophetic Witness Campaign: Media Training” in partnership with Corazón AZ and Hey Joe Media on May 5 and May 12 via Zoom. The training is designed to help advocates and faith leaders communicate effectively with media, develop compelling messaging, and practice interview and storytelling skills rooted in justice advocacy.

Additional upcoming opportunities include:

  • Weekly Monday Meditation gatherings via Zoom

  • A May 27 webinar on managing internal security threats featuring FBI Special Agent Dan Johnson

  • An interfaith dialogue series, “Shared Values in American Scripture,” beginning May 28

  • Monthly AFN commission and committee meetings focused on social justice, voting rights, and creation care

The newsletter also spotlights advocacy around immigration and detention concerns in Arizona, including recent faith leader responses to ICE detention conditions and an invitation to support the “Choose Love, Not ICE” campaign through Interfaith Alliance.

AFN is additionally recruiting staff and volunteers for its 2026 Heat Relief Program across Maricopa County, including opportunities in Glendale, Phoenix, and Tempe. Positions run through the summer months and focus on creating safe and welcoming spaces for neighbors impacted by extreme heat.

Partner events featured in the newsletter include “Sacred Earth: Common Ground” at the Grand Canyon South Rim on May 2, hosted by Arizona Interfaith Power and Light.
