Armena Mkhitaryan: Thank you for 25 years of Lutheran Social Services of Nevada

Above our volunteers, donors, board members, community partners, employees, and other "good Samaritans" are raising their hands to indicate support.

Over the past 25 years, thousands of good Samaritans in our community have given their blood, sweat and tears to the agency I am blessed to lead: Lutheran Social Services of Nevada. Last month, 140 people joined together at the Emerald at Queensridge to celebrate our birthday and to thank them all. We also recognized Pastor Marta Schmitt who, as a volunteer, former Board Member, friend of our agency, and champion of our mission, represents those thousands who made our agency into what we are today. Together, we shared memories of how LSSN grew from a group of faithful volunteers in our community into an established, respected agency that was able to serve over half a million people in need in our lifetime so far.

I am proud to announce that our 25th Anniversary Gala raised over $68,000 for Lutheran Social Services of Nevada, making this our most successful fundraising event ever. These funds will all go directly back into support for LSSN’s vital programs, including providing nearly 10,000 meals to people in need through the DigiMart Food Pantry, purchasing three months of hot, nutritious meals for the Heart of the City Senior Meal Program, housing and supportive services to stabilize four families, and more.

From the bottom of my heart, whether you are a donor, volunteer, current or former board member, community partner, or client, thank you for everything that you have done to make our agency better and stronger over the past 25 years. I am thankful to be taking the first steps into our next 25 years together with all of you.

With love,

Armena Mkhitaryan
