Before Election Day: LEAN’s Guides and Voting Reminders

Nevada early voting ends Friday, October 30, and Election Day is Tuesday, November 3. LEAN’s October 23 newsletter brings together voting reminders, Nevada and Utah voter guides, and explanations of local offices to help readers prepare.

Lutheran Engagement and Advocacy in Nevada (LEAN), a ministry of the Grand Canyon and Sierra Pacific Synods, connects civic participation with our Lutheran calling to love our neighbors and seek the common good.

Inside this issue, you’ll find:

  • Why the whole ballot matters. Articles explain the responsibilities of judges, city councils, county officials, and the Board of Regents—and how their decisions affect daily life.

  • Nevada and Utah voter guides. These resources approach ballot measures through Lutheran social teaching, including human dignity, concern for people experiencing poverty, and accessible civic participation. LEAN explains that its positions reflect ELCA social teaching and ministry priorities.

  • Practical voting resources. Find reminders about registration, voting locations, returning ballots, and tracking your ballot’s status.

A timing update for Nevada readers: The newsletter’s recommended October 27 mailing date has passed. That recommendation was intended to allow delivery time; it was not the legal ballot-return deadline. With Election Day approaching, consider returning your signed ballot to an authorized drop-off location or voting in person. Check your county’s locations, hours, registration requirements, and return instructions through the Nevada Secretary of State’s election resources.

Because this issue was published October 23, some reminders refer to dates that have already passed. Nevada’s voting instructions also should not be applied to other states.

Faith active in love includes thoughtful attention to the decisions that shape our communities. Explore these resources, share them with your congregation, and remember election workers and neighbors in prayer.
