Bishop Curry Invites the ELCA to “God’s work. Our hands.” Sunday

ELCA congregations are invited to participate in “God’s work. Our hands.” Sunday on Sept. 13, 2026, joining Lutherans across the church in a shared day of service in our congregations and communities.

ELCA Presiding Bishop Yehiel Curry invites congregations to take part in this annual opportunity to put faith into action by loving and serving our neighbors.

“God’s work. Our hands.” Sunday celebrates a central Lutheran conviction: Our service does not earn God’s grace but flows from it. Freed in Christ, we are sent into the world with a living, daring confidence in God’s grace—called to love our neighbors and participate in God’s work already taking place in our communities.

Congregations throughout the Grand Canyon Synod can participate through service projects shaped by the needs and gifts of their own communities. While Sept. 13 is the churchwide date, the invitation extends beyond a single Sunday: We are one church, freed in Christ to love and serve our neighbor every day.
