Book Study Amplifies Voices of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women

Reading Together, Acting Together: Region 2 Book Study on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women

Violence against Indigenous women and relatives is a crisis that continues long after awareness campaigns end. As part of our ongoing commitment to justice, the Women of the ELCA invite members of Region 2 to join a powerful regional book study on Where They Last Saw Her, a novel by award-winning author Marcie R. Rendon. This timely conversation will take place on Wednesday, June 5 at 6:30 p.m. MST via Zoom.

Through this story, we reflect on how we as church can show up for our Indigenous neighbors—not only in word but in deed. Participants will explore themes of loss, visibility, and systemic violence, while also learning ways to accompany those who are suffering and advocate for systemic change.

This book study isn’t just about discussion—it’s a call to action. Grounded in our Lutheran faith and the call to love our neighbor, this conversation invites us to lament the violence, listen deeply, and commit to justice for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Relatives (MMIW).

To join the conversation, register and get the Zoom link through the Women of the ELCA:
