Call for Dancers: Share Your Gifts at Churchwide Assembly Worship

Do you know a student or young adult who loves to dance? This July, the national expression of our church is inviting dancers from the Phoenix area to bring their gifts to a national stage—through movement and worship.

The ELCA Churchwide Assembly will open with a powerful worship service at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 28, at the Phoenix Convention Center. As part of this event, organizers are seeking local dancers—students or young adults—who can be available that day from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to rehearse and perform.

This is more than a performance—it’s a chance to experience dance as an act of praise, an offering of one’s whole body in worship. Dancers don’t often get to share their art in the context of church life. Participating in the Churchwide Assembly’s opening service offers a rare opportunity to witness the wider church and embody faith through movement.

If your congregation has young people who spend time in the dance studio, please consider reaching out and inviting them to take part. This is a beautiful chance for them to offer their gifts in worship and connect with the broader church.

To recommend a dancer or ask questions, please contact Deacon Sarah Bjornebo at sbjornebo@yahoo.com or 303-257-3356. Let’s help our dancers bring their gifts to the heart of our church’s national gathering.
