Called to Courage: Upcoming Creation Care Events for September
September Events Invite Us into Courageous Creation Care
This fall, Lutherans across the country are invited to join with our wider ecumenical community to deepen our commitment to God’s creation. Several key events offer opportunities for learning, prayer, fellowship, and action.
1. Building a Moral Economy – September 30
On Monday, September 30 at 6pm MT (5pm PT / 8pm ET), join Lutherans Restoring Creation, Creation Justice Ministries, Blessed Tomorrow, and the Center for Climate Justice and Faith for a timely conversation with theologian Dr. Cynthia Moe-Lobeda, author of Building a Moral Economy: Pathways for People of Courage.
This free event includes a live Q&A as we explore how economic systems can better reflect God’s justice, dignity, and care for creation.
2. Christian Climate Training – September 27
The ELCA is partnering with Blessed Tomorrow and other faith groups for a Christian Climate Training on Friday, Sept 27 (8:30–11:30am PT / 11:30am–2:30pm ET). Over 60 ELCA members are already registered for this live, virtual event.
Participants will gain practical tools and faith-based grounding to lead climate action in their churches and communities as official Climate Ambassadors.

3. Looking Ahead – Retreats & Gatherings
Jan 23–25, 2026: Multiply & Mobilize Retreat at Lutheridge, NC – a time for rest, renewal, and recommitment to care for creation.

Oct 21: Blessing of the Animals virtual service at 5pm PT / 8pm ET
Nov 18: Food Justice Call focused on gratitude and ethical food systems
Oct 8: Coffee Chat with Christine Moffett, covering faith + federal policy
As we move through the Season of Creation (Sept 1 – Oct 4), we’re reminded that God’s creation is not a backdrop to our faith—it’s central to it. Join the movement. Speak up. Show up.
