Celebrate Fat Tuesday with Music, Food, and Generosity at Grace Lutheran Church in Phoenix
As we prepare to enter the season of Lent, you are invited to gather for one final evening of celebration, community, and generosity at Music for Meals, a Fat Tuesday event hosted at Hope Hall at Grace Lutheran Church.
Music for Meals takes place Tuesday, February 17, beginning with a meal at 6:00 p.m. and live music at 6:30 p.m.The evening will feature authentic New Orleans–style cuisine and lively music from the Connections band, creating a festive space to share food, fellowship, and joy.
This free community event also carries a meaningful purpose. Attendees are encouraged to bring canned food donationsfor the Pitchfork Pantry, a food pantry housed on the Grace Lutheran campus and staffed by the ASU School of Social Work. The pantry supports students at ASU Downtown who are navigating food insecurity while pursuing their education. In addition, all monetary donations from the evening will be used to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, and dairy products for the pantry—items that are often hardest to source but deeply needed.
As Lutherans, we understand feasting and fasting not as opposites, but as rhythms of a faithful life. Before we enter the reflective season of Lent, this gathering offers a chance to celebrate God’s abundance while caring for neighbors in tangible ways. It is a joyful reminder that generosity and gratitude go hand in hand.
Music for Meals will be held at Hope Hall, 1124 N. Third Street, Phoenix, AZ 85004. Parking is free, the event is open to all, and no registration is required.
Come celebrate Fat Tuesday with great food, great music, and a shared commitment to feeding our neighbors—one last time before the journey of Lent begins.
