Childcare Available at 2026 Synod Assembly Thanks to PLTS and Cal Lutheran
Families attending the 2026 Grand Canyon Synod Assembly will have one more reason to participate fully: childcare will be available during assembly, thanks to the generous sponsorship of Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary (PLTS) and California Lutheran University (Cal Lutheran).
The Grand Canyon Synod is grateful for the support of these two Lutheran educational institutions, whose partnership helps make assembly more accessible for rostered ministers, lay leaders, and families from across our synod.
Associated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary is the only Lutheran seminary in the western half of the United States and a founding member of the Graduate Theological Union in partnership with the University of California, Berkeley. PLTS prepares leaders for ministry through theological education rooted in faith, service, and the changing needs of the church.
California Lutheran University, founded in 1959 and formally recognized as a Hispanic-Serving Institution since 2016, serves more than 3,100 undergraduate and graduate students from 67 countries and a wide range of faith traditions. Known for its personalized education and commitment to helping students discover purpose and vocation, Cal Lutheran emphasizes transformation through learning, community, and service.
Together, these institutions are helping the Grand Canyon Synod embody a practical expression of welcome and hospitality by ensuring parents and caregivers can participate more fully in the work of assembly.
As we gather in 2026 under the theme “Rooted in God’s Story,” this sponsorship reflects a shared commitment to nurturing leaders, supporting families, and strengthening participation across generations.
More information about childcare registration and logistics will be shared as assembly plans continue to develop.
