Desert Cross Lutheran in Gilbert Presents The Winter Rose: A Free Advent Cantata of Hope and Wonder

Desert Cross Lutheran Church in Gilbert invites the community to a beautiful Advent musical celebration, The Winter Rose: Songs of Worship and Wonder, on Sunday, December 14, from 4:00–5:00 p.m. This free program is offered as a musical “Christmas card of love” to all who gather, blending scripture, prayer, and the rich musical traditions of the season.

The cantata, composed by Joseph Martin, will be presented by the Chancel Choir, Ensemble, and Junior Choir of Desert Cross. The program is led by Director Carolyn Perkins, with accompanist Marta Hatch, and features flute, trumpet, and additional guest musicians—including soloist Jennifer Nagy (“O Holy Night”) and guest cellist Fred Chao of the Phoenix Symphony. Pastor Thadd Book will also be part of this worship experience.

Rooted in the promise of Emmanuel—God with Us, The Winter Rose invites listeners into the wonder of God’s love expressed through carols, readings, and art. Attendees are encouraged to bring a friend and share in this meaningful seasonal offering.

The event will be held at:

A Christmas cookie reception will follow the cantata, and all are welcome.
