Discern Your Next Faithful Step in Berkeley: A Weekend for Seminary Discernment
Anyone discerning a call to ordained ministry, theological education or another vocational path is invited to Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary’s Signs Along the Way discernment retreat, Friday, October 30 through Sunday, November 1, 2026, on the PLTS campus in Berkeley, California.
The weekend begins at 4:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time on Friday and concludes at 2:30 p.m. PDT on Sunday.
PLTS will cover lodging and meals, and travel assistance is available for those who need it. Participants will engage their sense of call, experience a PLTS class, meet current students, faculty and staff, and learn what it is like to study through PLTS’s distributed-learning model. The retreat is designed both for people in the early stages of seminary discernment and for those who already know theological education may be part of their future.
Those exploring the Master of Divinity, MA in Spirituality and Social Change, or Lutheran studies programs are especially encouraged to attend. Participants may also bring a significant other or another person involved in their discernment and decision-making.
Discernment is not something we are meant to do alone. In community, through prayer, conversation and attentive listening, we can notice the signs of where God may be leading us next.
