The position’s primary responsibility is directing Esperanza’s Chancel Choir while helping enhance the broader worship life of the congregation. The church is seeking a conductor with a vision to build on the foundation established by previous leadership and foster a vibrant, faith-filled music ministry.

The role includes coordinating choir music aligned with the liturgical year, directing rehearsals and worship leadership, selecting music appropriate to seasons and themes, and supporting special services throughout the church year. The choir traditionally sings every other Sunday, rehearses weekly, and participates in key festivals including Palm Sunday, Easter, Pentecost, Reformation Sunday, Holy Week, Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, and a shared Thanksgiving program with Mountain View Lutheran Church.

The Director will also lead two annual choir cantatas during Holy Week and Advent, coordinate with instrumentalists as needed, participate in worship planning, support Vacation Bible School, maintain choir webpage content, and oversee the choir budget and music library.

Esperanza is looking for someone with a heart for worship and Christian discipleship through music, experience conducting a variety of choral styles, knowledge of vocal pedagogy, and an understanding of Lutheran and liturgical traditions. The ability to collaborate with volunteers, staff, and worship leaders is essential.

Additional opportunities may be available, including leadership of contemporary worship, special music events, and broader worship support.

This is a part-time position averaging 10–15 hours per week, with annual compensation ranging from $12,000–$18,000 depending on experience and qualifications. Service follows the liturgical calendar, with planning and rehearsals beginning in August and worship support continuing through Pentecost each year (approximately 40 weeks annually).

To apply, candidates should submit a cover letter or email expressing interest and a resume to esperanza@myesperanza.org.
