As congregations prepare for summer ministry, new learning opportunities from Faith+Lead are helping leaders strengthen communication skills, deepen faith formation practices, and navigate the changing realities of congregational life. Their latest Monthly Roundup highlights on-demand courses, learning communities, free resources, and leadership development opportunities designed for both rostered ministers and lay leaders.
Among the featured offerings is Communication Skills for Leading Groups, an on-demand course especially timely for congregations preparing for VBS, youth mission trips, day camps, and summer volunteer leadership. The course focuses on practical skills for leading discussions, speaking confidently, guiding spiritual practices, and managing groups in both church and off-site settings.
Faith+Lead also highlights Leading Faith Formation in Children and Youth, a course designed to help leaders meet young people where they are and nurture faith development in thoughtful and sustainable ways. Congregations with existing programs can use the course to strengthen their ministries, while congregations without formal structures may find it especially helpful in building a foundation for future faith formation work.
In a season when many church leaders are navigating questions around compensation and sustainability, Faith+Lead is also offering a free mini-course on Compensation Negotiation. The course reframes compensation conversations as an act of faithful stewardship for both leaders and congregations.
The roundup also includes information about the Spring Cohort of the School for Lay Ministry, a 12-month learning journey designed to equip lay leaders with skills in preaching, teaching, congregational leadership, finances, and spiritual care. As more congregations explore lay-led ministry models, these kinds of formation opportunities continue to grow in importance across the church.
Coming soon is Stepping Up to Supervision, a four-week learning community developed by Susan Beaumont that combines theological reflection and practical leadership tools to help ministry leaders supervise staff and volunteers faithfully and effectively. Registration opens May 15, and interested leaders can join the waitlist now.
In addition to courses and cohorts, the roundup includes several free resources, including new issues of Word & Worldtheology journal from Luther Seminary, an article exploring rural pastoral ministry partnerships, and a downloadable ebook titled Pivot 4: What if It’s Not All on You?, which reflects on shared leadership and lay-led ministry models.
These resources reflect a broader movement within the church toward collaborative leadership, faithful adaptability, and lifelong learning in ministry. Congregations and leaders across the Grand Canyon Synod may find encouragement, practical tools, and fresh ideas for ministry in this season.
