Free Concert: Foxes, Wine & Wheat Premieres Michael Torke’s Psalms and Canticles
The Grand Canyon Synod is delighted to share a special interfaith concert event supported by a GCS grant: the American premiere of Michael Torke’s Psalms and Canticles for soprano and chamber orchestra. This unique concert, titled Foxes, Wine & Wheat, brings together Paradise Valley United Methodist Church and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Chandler to host two free performances.
Concert Details:
Friday, September 12 at 7:00 PM – Paradise Valley United Methodist Church, 4455 E Lincoln Dr, Paradise Valley, AZ 85253
Saturday, September 13 at 2:00 PM – Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Sanctuary, Chandler, 739 W Erie St, Chandler, AZ 85225
Admission is free, with donations gratefully accepted at the door. The concerts feature Lariche Lamar, soprano, and Charles Zoll, conductor, leading an ensemble of seventeen instruments.
Michael Torke’s Psalms and Canticles draws on the Books of Psalms, Lamentations, and Song of Solomon, weaving sacred texts into vibrant new music for today’s listeners. As Lutherans, we affirm the power of music to proclaim God’s Word, foster community, and witness to the hope of Christ across denominational lines.
For those unable to attend in person, the concert will also be live-streamed on YouTube.
