Free Webinar: Understanding Youth Addiction Trends and Recovery Challenges
Addiction & Youth: Trends, Challenges, and the Role of Faith Communities
Free webinar Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 12 p.m. CT
September is National Recovery Month—a time to raise awareness about mental health and substance use disorders and celebrate the strength and resilience of those in recovery. In observance of this important month, we invite you to attend a free, one-hour webinar on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, from 12:00–1:00 p.m. CT (10:00 a.m. Arizona time) titled: “Addiction & Youth: Trends & Challenges.”
Hosted by the Center of Addiction & Faith, this webinar features Michael Durchslag, Director of P.E.A.S.E. Academy (the longest running recovery high school in the United States) and Chair of the Association of Recovery Schools. Michael brings nearly 30 years of experience in adolescent recovery education, with insights rooted in both educational practice and addiction treatment advocacy.
Why this matters:
Nine out of ten adults with a diagnosed substance use disorder began using substances as adolescents. Yet youth remain the most underserved group in addiction and recovery services. The earlier the intervention, the greater the chance of changing lives.
This webinar will explore:
The latest data on adolescent substance use trends
Effective strategies and best practices for youth recovery
How families, educators, and faith communities can respond

As people of faith, we are called to accompany others with compassion, especially in times of suffering and struggle. Addiction is not a moral failure—it is a disease. And as the body of Christ, we are invited to be part of the healing. This Recovery Month, may we equip ourselves to support young people with grace, knowledge, and hope.
