January Good Green News brings timely opportunities for learning, advocacy, and connection for people of faith committed to caring for God’s creation. From global ecumenical efforts to grassroots gatherings, there are meaningful ways for congregations and leaders across our synod to participate.

Ecumenical Decade of Climate Justice (2025–2034)

The World Council of Churches is inviting churches around the world to participate in the Ecumenical Decade of Climate Justice. This decade-long commitment centers climate justice as a core expression of Christian discipleship.

Lutherans Restoring Creation encourages congregations and synods to call upon ELCA churchwide leadership to formally join this effort—in thought, word, and deed.

Congregations are asked to:

  • Review the updated model materials (now corrected),

  • Share them with your church council as soon as possible, and

  • Encourage synod-level and churchwide engagement.

This is one tangible way to live out our faith publicly and collectively—inviting all to the table as we seek justice for our neighbors and the earth.
