Generosity That Grows: Resurrection Lutheran Church and the ELCA Foundation Model Sustainable Ministry

In the video, Pastor Tim Nybroten, Senior Pastor at Resurrection Lutheran Church, joins Rev. Dan Potaznick, Director of Generosity and Strategic Development for the Grand Canyon Synod, and Lisa Marie Higginbotham, ELCA Foundation regional gift planner, to share how faithful stewardship and long-term planning can strengthen ministries for generations to come.
The ELCA Foundation exists to help congregations, synods, and individuals live out their generosity through thoughtful giving, endowments, and legacy planning. Across the Grand Canyon Synod, these partnerships make it possible to grow ministries, fund missions, and sustain the work of the gospel well into the future.
“Generosity is not just about meeting today’s needs—it’s about ensuring the vitality of our ministries tomorrow,” says Pastor Potaznick. Through the support and guidance of the ELCA Foundation, congregations like Resurrection Lutheran are building endowments that will continue to bless their communities long after the initial gifts are made.
The ELCA Foundation and the Office of the Bishop are deeply grateful for the relationships of trust and shared purpose that make this ministry possible. Together, we are growing a culture of generosity—one that reflects our faith in God’s abundance and our hope for the church’s future.
