Renewables and Lutheran Ethics — June 30
On Tuesday, June 30, at 5 p.m. Pacific / 6 p.m. Mountain, Lutherans Restoring Creation will host “Renewables and Lutheran Ethics,” featuring renewable energy developer Chad Crowley.
Crowley will explore the intersection of renewable energy development, community engagement, and Lutheran ethics, reflecting on how faith informs decisions about energy, sustainability, and the challenges of a just transition toward cleaner energy sources.
This conversation is part of a broader churchwide dialogue about climate justice and faithful responses to environmental challenges.
Climate Justice Resolution Update
As synod assembly season concludes, Lutherans Restoring Creation is celebrating progress on the Resolution for the Decade of Climate Justice, which encourages the ELCA to prioritize staffing and funding for climate justice ministries.
The resolution, authored by Jim Martin-Schramm and introduced by the Northwest Intermountain Synod, has gained significant support across the church, with numerous synods discussing and advancing climate justice commitments.
New Faith + Climate Film Series
Congregations looking for educational resources may be interested in the new Faith + Climate Film Series from Blessed Tomorrow.
The series features ELCA leaders and other faith voices sharing stories of climate engagement and faithful action. It can be used by congregations, small groups, youth ministries, and Season of Creation planning teams.
A special group screening and discussion will be held on July 21 at 5 p.m. Pacific / 8 p.m. Eastern, though participants can begin exploring the films immediately.
Additional Opportunities
Upcoming events also include:
Coffee with Christine on July 8, offering conversation with a Lutheran environmental policy advocate.
Equipping the Church to Dismantle White Supremacy, a five-part webinar series connecting environmental justice and racial justice. The next session, “Freedom of a Christian: Reclaiming the Gospel for Justice,” will be held on July 14.
Continued opportunities to engage with Covenant for Our Future, a growing multi-faith movement advocating for climate justice, economic dignity, and the common good.
