Honoring Dr. King: Synod Office Closed January 19
The Office of the Bishop of the Grand Canyon Synod will be closed on Monday, January 19, 2026, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
This day invites us not only to pause, but to recommit ourselves to the ongoing work of justice, dignity, and beloved community. Dr. King’s witness continues to call the church to live boldly into its baptismal promises—to strive for justice and peace in all the earth.
We give thanks for Dr. King’s prophetic voice and for all who labor today for equity, reconciliation, and hope. Regular office operations will resume on Tuesday, January 20.
A Prayer:
God of justice and mercy, we thank you for the life and witness of Martin Luther King Jr. Strengthen us to love our neighbors, confront injustice, and walk humbly in your truth. Amen.
