In Memoriam: Deacon Ardie Senft
We pray for the friends and family of Deacon Ardie Senft passed away on May 3, 2025, at the age of 79.
With deep gratitude for her life and ministry, we remember Deacon Ardith “Ardie” Senft, who passed away peacefully on May 3, 2025, in Glendale, Arizona. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 17 at Living Water Lutheran Church, 9201 E Happy Valley Rd, Scottsdale, AZ. A reception will follow the service.
Ardie’s 79 years were marked by a profound commitment to faith, learning, and loving service. In her early years, she shaped young minds as a teacher. For the last three decades of her life, Ardie served as a diaconal minister in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, offering spiritual care, guidance, and accompaniment to individuals and communities across the synod and beyond.
Her ministry was deeply rooted in Lutheran theology: that all are called to love and serve the neighbor, that grace abounds, and that God’s presence is revealed through relationships. Ardie lived these truths, guiding youth on mission trips, leading retreats, visiting homebound members, and nurturing connections that fostered spiritual growth. Her compassion and ability to listen deeply made her a cherished presence in every congregation she served.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Lyssa (Jen) Senft and Tracey (Chris) Kontz, and her three grandchildren. She now joins her beloved husband Craig in the communion of saints.
In honor of Ardie’s enduring legacy of service, memorial gifts may be directed to Arizona Faith Network (www.arizonafaithnetwork.org) and Feed My Starving Children (www.fmsc.org).
May her memory be a blessing.
“O God of grace and glory, we remember before you our sister, Deacon Addie Senft. We thank you for giving her to us to know and to love as a companion in our pilgrimage on earth. In your boundless compassion, console us who mourn. Give us faith to see that death has been swallowed up in the victory of our Lord, Jesus Christ, so that we may live in confidence and hope until, by your call, we are gathered to our heavenly home in the company of all your saints; through Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Lord.”
