In Memoriam: Natalie Rimmer

We pray for Rev. Chad Rimmer, his children, and the family and friends of Natalie Rimmer, who died August 28, 2023. Many in our synod know them through their work as ELCA missionaries in Senegal.

A celebration of life was held Saturday, 2 September, at St. Philip Lutheran Church, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Excerpts of Pastor Chad’s sermon and an acknowledgment of grief can be found here, and the full service can be watched here.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, we would like for you to consider donations in Natalie’s memory to two organizations:

  • Duke KidsCan! Support Group, For Children Whose Parents Have Cancer. When you donate, please designate the gift in memory of “Natalie Rimmer for KidsCan!” Donate here.

  • Duke Cancer Institute Sarcoma Center, Sarcoma 2023 Strike Out 5k.

  • or mail checks in memory of Natalie to: Duke Sarcoma Program, DUMC Box 3312, Durham, NC 27710.

O God of grace and glory, we remember before you our sister, Natalie Rimmer. We thank you for giving her to us to know and to love as a companion in our pilgrimage on earth. In your boundless compassion, console us who mourn. Give us faith to see that death has been swallowed up in the victory of our Lord, Jesus Christ, so that we may live in confidence and hope until, by your call, we are gathered to our heavenly home in the company of all your saints; through Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Lord.
— Amen
