In Memoriam: Rev. Richard “Dick” Glover
The Grand Canyon Synod gives thanks for the life and ministry of Rev. Richard “Dick” Glover, retired pastor and longtime member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Phoenix, who died on Monday, November 17, 2025.
A Service of Life and Resurrection has now been scheduled and the synod is invited to attend and hold the Glover family in prayer:
• Saturday, January 17
• St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 3101 West Cholla Street, Phoenix, AZ 85029
• Visitation: 10:30 a.m.
• Service: 11:00 a.m.
• Fellowship: Immediately following the service
As we remember Pastor Glover, we do so grounded in the hope of the resurrection. In baptism, we trust that we are claimed, renewed, and held in the eternal mercy of God. That promise now surrounds Dick, who rests in the fullness of Christ’s peace.
Pastor Glover’s ministry and presence were a gift to the church, and his life bore witness to the steadfast love of God made known in Jesus Christ. As a synod, we give thanks for his faithful service and for the ways God worked through him for the sake of the gospel.
We invite prayers for Alice, the Glover family, their friends, and the community of St. Andrew Lutheran Church as they grieve and give thanks for Dick’s life. May God surround them with comfort, hope, and the sure promise of resurrection in the days ahead.
“O God of grace and glory, we remember before you our brother, Rev. Dick Glover. We thank you for giving him to us to know and to love as a companion in our pilgrimage on earth. In your boundless compassion, console us who mourn. Give us faith to see that death has been swallowed up in the victory of our Lord, Jesus Christ, so that we may live in confidence and hope until, by your call, we are gathered to our heavenly home in the company of all your saints; through Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Lord.”
