Living Water Lutheran Church Hosts Book Drive to Share the Gift of Reading

Living Water Lutheran Church in Scottsdale is inviting the community to share the gift of reading through a book drive running from April 6 through June 30, 2026. The congregation is collecting new and gently used books for readers of all ages, helping place books into the hands of families across the Phoenix area.

Donations may be dropped off at Living Water Lutheran Church, 9201 E. Happy Valley Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85255, Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Congregation members and community supporters are encouraged to bring books that are in good condition—with no rips, tears, marks, or wormholes.

The drive welcomes a wide range of materials, including:

  • Children’s books

  • Baby board books

  • Early phonics and beginner readers

  • Youth and young adult books

  • Adult books

  • Cookbooks

  • Magazines that include recipes

These books will help support literacy and learning in the wider community, ensuring that more households have access to reading materials. For many families, a donated book may become the first book owned by someone in the household—a small but meaningful step toward nurturing curiosity, imagination, and lifelong learning.

As Lutherans, we recognize that education, storytelling, and shared wisdom are powerful tools for building stronger communities. Supporting literacy is one way we live out our call to love our neighbors and invest in the flourishing of the next generation.

If you have books to share this spring, consider participating in Living Water’s book drive and helping place meaningful stories into the hands of readers throughout our region.
