Nominate a Young Musician for Lutheran Summer Music 2026

Youth musicians from across the country will gather this summer at St. Olaf College for the Lutheran Summer Music Academy & Festival (LSM)—a nationally respected program that brings together faith, music, and community.

LSM invites students in grades 8–12 to spend the summer immersed in rigorous musical study within a supportive Lutheran environment. Participants grow as musicians through performance, instruction, and ensemble work, while also being invited to share their gifts in worship and daily community life. For many students, LSM becomes a formative experience—deepening confidence, faith, and a sense of vocation.

The Standard Enrollment deadline is March 1, and spots are filling quickly.

This is a great opportunity for congregations, pastors, musicians, and lay leaders to encourage young people who show musical promise. If you know a student who would thrive in this kind of setting, you can nominate them today at LSMacademy.org/nominate. Students may also apply directly for free at LSMacademy.org/apply—but they must do so by March 1.

As Lutherans, we affirm that God calls people of all ages to use their gifts for the sake of the church and the world. Lutheran Summer Music helps young people discern and strengthen those gifts, connecting artistry with faith in ways that can last a lifetime.

You’ll find this invitation and additional details in this week’s synod newsletter. Be sure to read the newsletter in full—and consider sharing this opportunity with the young musicians in your community.
