Nominations Open for 2026 Synod Assembly Leadership Roles—Deadline May 4
Nominations are now open for key leadership roles to be elected at the 2026 Grand Canyon Synod Assembly, including Synod Secretary, Synod Council members, and committee positions. All nomination forms must be submitted by May 4, 2026. View our page for all the details.
Any congregational member in good standing may either self-nominate or nominate another person. The Nominating Committee invites individuals across the synod to prayerfully consider how God may be calling them to serve in this moment.
Positions to be filled include:
Synod Secretary (4-year term)
Synod Council at-large representatives (including lay, young adult, and youth roles)
Conference representatives (selected by conferences and ratified at assembly)
Consultation Committee (rostered minister, 6-year term)
Committee on Discipline (rostered minister and layperson, 6-year terms)
The Synod Council plays a vital role in the life of the church—carrying out the work of the Assembly, overseeing governance and finances, issuing calls to rostered ministers, and guiding the synod’s shared mission. The Synod Secretary ensures faithful recordkeeping, communication, and stewardship of the synod’s official documents.
This is more than filling positions—it is a shared act of discernment. As Lutherans, we trust that the Holy Spirit calls people into service for the sake of the whole body of Christ. Your gifts, experience, and voice matter in shaping the future of our synod’s ministry.
If you or someone you know may be called to serve, we encourage you to take the next step.
