Office of the Bishop Closed in Observance of Juneteenth
The Office of the Bishop will be closed on Friday, June 19, 2026, in observance of Juneteenth.
Juneteenth marks the end of legalized slavery in the United States and reminds us that freedom delayed is freedom denied. As Lutherans, we name this day as both celebration and call—a call to continue dismantling racism and seeking justice for all God’s people.
We give thanks for liberation, resilience, and hope, and we recommit ourselves to the ongoing work of racial justice. The office will reopen on Monday, June 22.
A Prayer:
God of freedom, we thank you for liberation won and lives restored. Strengthen us to confront injustice, tell the truth, and work for a more just and faithful world. Amen.
