Office of the Bishop Closed Memorial Day, Monday, May 27
“Gracious God, we remember before you all who gave their lives in service. Surround their families with comfort, bless all who serve today, and make us instruments of your peace.”
In observance of Memorial Day on Monday, May 27, 2025, the Office of the Bishop of the Grand Canyon Synod will be closed. We invite all in our synod to take time for remembrance and prayer, honoring those who have died in military service.
Memorial Day is a national moment of solemn gratitude. As people of faith, we are reminded of Jesus’ words: “Greater love has no one than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:13). This day calls us to reflect not only on the sacrifice of those who served but also on our call to peace, justice, and service in Christ’s name.
As we gather with loved ones or spend time in quiet reflection, may we remember those who grieve, those who serve, and those who work for peace. Let this day be both a remembrance and a recommitment to our shared life in God’s promise.
The Office of the Bishop will reopen on Tuesday, May 28.
