Rev. Tim Brown’s Synod Assembly Presentations Now Available

If you attended the 2026 Grand Canyon Synod Assembly—or wish you could revisit some of its most thought-provoking presentations—you can now access and download all three presentations shared by Rev. Tim Brown, Director of Congregational Stewardship for the ELCA.

Throughout the assembly, Rev. Brown invited participants to reflect on stewardship not simply as fundraising, but as a way of life rooted in God’s story, generosity, discipleship, relationships, and the flourishing of God’s creation. His presentations challenged us to consider how stewardship shapes our use of time, resources, land, relationships, advocacy, and even technology.

The presentations are now available below for viewing, downloading, and sharing within your congregation:

Rooted in God’s Story (Keynote)

A keynote presentation exploring stewardship and generosity as discipleship practices rooted in baptism and God’s ongoing work in the world. Rev. Brown reflects on how generosity transforms both individuals and communities, and how telling stories of impact helps inspire faithful participation in God’s mission.

Rooted in God’s Story: Stewardship in the Scriptures (Bible Study)

This engaging Bible study examines familiar biblical stories through a stewardship lens, including Creation, the Magi, Lazarus and the Rich Man, Zacchaeus, Jesus and the Coin, and the sending of the disciples. Participants are invited to move beyond simple answers and engage Scripture with curiosity, wonder, and faithful reflection.

ELCA Churchwide Report: A Connected Church

In his churchwide report, Rev. Brown highlighted how congregations, synods, and the churchwide organization work together as one connected church. Topics included ELCA World Hunger, Lutheran Disaster Response, the Church Property Resource Hub, faith and civic life resources, and the impact of Mission Support across the ELCA.

As Rev. Brown reminded us throughout the assembly, stewardship is ultimately about participating in God’s abundance and sharing the stories of lives changed through generosity. We invite congregations, ministry leaders, and members throughout the Grand Canyon Synod to revisit these resources, use them in local conversations, and continue exploring what it means to be rooted in God’s story.
