Rooted in God’s Story: Submit Your Ministry Story for Synod Assembly 2026

As we prepare for the 2026 Grand Canyon Synod Assembly, we invite congregations, ministries, and ministry partners across our synod to share stories of how God is at work in your community. View our mission and ministry story page for more info.

This year’s assembly gathers under the theme “Rooted in God’s Story,” inspired by the words of Psalm 78:4: “We will tell the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord.” Together, we will celebrate the many ways the Spirit is moving through congregations across Arizona, southern Nevada, St. George, Utah, and the Navajo Nation.

Submit Your Story by Friday, May 8, 2026

We welcome short stories that highlight ministry in action—moments of service, growth, resilience, and faith that reflect the life of Christ in your community.

Stories can be submitted in several formats:

  • Written reflections

  • Photos

  • Short videos (ideally 2–3 minutes)

  • Audio recordings

Send submissions to Brian Flatgard, Communications Director, at bflatgard@gcsynod.org by Friday, May 8, 2026.

While not every story will be featured during the assembly itself, around 50 stories will be highlighted across the synod’s blog, Facebook page, and weekly newsletter, and all submissions will be gathered on a special Synod Assembly story page so the whole synod can see the good work being done across our ministries.

Rooted in God’s Story

The theme “Rooted in God’s Story” reminds us that our congregations are part of a much larger story—one that stretches across generations. Psalm 78 calls us to tell the coming generation about God’s faithfulness, and one of the best ways we do that is by sharing how God continues to work through the people of our congregations today.

Your story might include:

  • A new outreach ministry serving your neighborhood

  • A partnership with local schools or community organizations

  • Creative worship or discipleship efforts

  • Moments when faith, compassion, and courage made a difference

These stories build up the church by reminding us that we are part of something larger than ourselves—a living witness to God’s grace at work in the world.

Tell the Story

The Holy Spirit moves through the stories we share with one another. So be bold, be creative, and have fun with it.

We look forward to hearing how God is working in your ministry and celebrating those stories together as we gather for the 2026 Grand Canyon Synod Assembly.
