Rooted in Story: Our Theme for 2026

Our theme for 2026 is simple and profound: Rooted in Story.

This theme invites us to return again to the heart of our faith—the story of God’s love revealed in Jesus Christ—and to lift up the many ways God’s story is alive in our lives, our congregations, and our communities. Rooted in Story will shape the rhythm of our synod’s life in the year ahead. It will guide our Spring Gatherings, our 2026 Synod Assembly, and the 2026 Bishop’s Fall Gathering.

Scripture reminds us again and again to remember and to tell:

  • “Recite them to your children… talk about them at home and away” (Deut. 6).

  • “We will tell the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord” (Ps. 78).

  • “The Word became flesh and lived among us” (John 1).

  • “Always be ready to give an account for the hope that is in you” (1 Pet. 3).

Throughout 2025–2026, the Synod Council will be practicing storytelling together so that, by the time of our 2026 Assembly, leaders and congregations alike will be ready to share short, clear, Gospel‐centered stories of hope. Our prayer is that by being rooted in God’s story, we will be bold and ready to tell the story of Christ’s love to the world around us.
