Share the Bounty: Thanksgiving Food Drive for Flood-Affected Families in Globe/Miami

Our neighbors in Globe and Miami suffered a devastating flood in September. As a community of faithful people, Mountain View Lutheran Church in Phoenix is responding with compassion—inviting all to help share our bounty with those in need this Thanksgiving.

Donations of non-perishable Thanksgiving foods will be collected November 1–10 during weekend worship services or church office hours (Monday–Thursday, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m.–noon). All contributions will go directly to the Gila Community Food Bank in Globe, supporting families still recovering from the flood.

A special drop-off event will take place on Saturday, November 8, from 9 a.m. to noon in the church parking lot at 11002 S. 48th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85044.

Since this food drive is Thanksgiving-focused, please consider donating items typically enjoyed at the holiday table, such as:

  • canned vegetables

  • instant mashed potatoes

  • stuffing mix

  • pie fillings

  • biscuit or cornbread mix

  • and other ingredients for a Thanksgiving meal

Financial gifts are also welcome and will allow the food bank to purchase turkeys or other perishable items as needed. If you bring your donations to worship, please place them near the altar so Pastor Doug may bless them before they are sent.

As followers of Christ, we remember that Jesus fed the hungry—and calls us to do the same. In this season of gratitude, we are blessed to be a blessing. Come and share the bounty that God has provided to each of us.
