The Synod Assembly is the primary gathering where we come together as the Body of Christ to worship, discern, and make decisions that shape our shared ministry. This is not just a meeting—it is an expression of who we are as church, rooted in God’s story and called into life together.

Expanding the Table

Each congregation is encouraged to fully participate by sending its standard voting members—and to consider electing two additional lay voting members:

  • One youth or young adult (confirmed youth through age 17 or young adults ages 18–30)

  • One person of color or person whose primary language is not English

This invitation reflects our commitment to embodying the fullness of Christ’s body across generations, cultures, and lived experiences.

Support for Young Leaders

Through the Bishop’s Leadership Fund, congregations may register one youth or young adult voting member at no cost.

  • Use code: YOUTH2026

  • Applies to one young person per congregation

  • Covers youth through age 17 and young adults up to age 30

This is a meaningful opportunity to invest in the next generation of leaders and invite them into the life and decision-making of the church.

Who Serves as Voting Members?

Voting members include:

  • Lay members elected by congregations

  • All active pastors and deacons on the roster

  • Synod Council members and officers

  • Eligible retired rostered ministers

At least 60% of voting members will be laypeople, ensuring broad representation across the synod.

Rooted in God’s Story—Together

Our 2026 theme, “Rooted in God’s Story,” calls us to remember that the Church’s story is not carried by a few, but by the whole people of God. As we gather, we do so to listen, discern, and act together—grounded in faith and sent into the world.

Now is the time to identify and equip your congregation’s voting members. Who is being called to participate? Who might be ready to step into leadership for the first time?

Register by May 18. This deadline is final.
