The Future We Choose: A Nationwide Faith Gathering for Climate Justice

On Saturday, April 25, 2026, people of faith across the country will gather—online and in local communities—for the National Faith + Climate Forum, a nationwide event centered on faithful action, climate justice, and care for God’s creation. nationalfaithandclimateforum.org/

This free, live-streamed forum will be experienced at in-person gatherings hosted by congregations and community groups, as well as by individuals joining from home. Together, participants will learn, connect, and reflect on how faith communities can lead with courage and hope in a time of ecological urgency.

The 2026 theme, The Future We Choose: Faith in Action for a Thriving Tomorrow, invites us not only to imagine a better future, but to actively build it. Rooted in shared values across faith traditions, the forum emphasizes that caring for creation is not optional—it is central to our calling as people of faith. As Lutherans, we recognize creation care as a response to God’s grace and a vital expression of love for neighbor, especially for those most impacted by climate change.

Participants will hear from nationally recognized leaders, including Dr. Ayana Elizabeth Johnson, acclaimed author of All We Can Save and What If We Get It Right?, who will offer insight and inspiration on what becomes possible when faith communities lead with conviction and collaboration.

The momentum is real. In 2025, more than 2,000 participants from over 565 congregations took part across the country. In 2026, the forum is growing even larger—and no prior experience with climate issues is needed to participate.

There are two ways to join:

  • Register as an individual and participate via livestream from home.

  • Host a local watch party at your congregation or community space. Host sites are eligible to receive up to $500 in support funding to help make the gathering accessible and welcoming.
