Arizona Faith Network: Prophetic Witness, Creation Care & Interfaith Engagement

Arizona Faith Network (AFN) continues to organize faith communities across our state for bold, compassionate public witness. Their weekly newsletter highlights immediate opportunities for clergy and lay leaders to engage in advocacy, interfaith learning, and community-building.

Prophetic Witness Campaign – In-Person Trainings

AFN and Corazón AZ are leading the Prophetic Witness Campaign, a statewide, faith-rooted effort to protect human dignity, strengthen community safety, and respond faithfully to unjust immigration policies.

Phoenix Training:

📍 Neighborhood Ministries

1918 W Van Buren St, Phoenix

🗓 February 19 | 6:00 pm

(Tucson training details forthcoming.)

Clergy and faith leaders are especially encouraged to participate. The campaign centers unity, nonviolence, and moral courage — a powerful expression of Lutheran public theology rooted in the dignity of every person.

Environmental Day at the Capitol — February 11

Wesley Bolin Memorial Plaza, Phoenix

February 11 | 8:30 am – 2:00 pm

Theme: “People Power for the Planet!”

AFN joins Sierra Club, Chispa Arizona, Coalition for Sonoran Desert Protection, and others for this annual advocacy day. Participants will meet with legislators and advocate for climate and environmental policies.

Care for creation is not optional in Lutheran theology; it flows directly from our confession that the earth is the Lord’s and that vocation calls us to love our neighbors — including future generations.

Monday Meditation (Weekly)

Mondays | Noon MST | Zoom

Led by Vasu Bandhu, AFN’s Interfaith Manager, this weekly meditation offers spiritual grounding for the week ahead.

Interfaith & Community Engagement

AFN’s newsletter also includes:

  • Connection to Nature (Feb. 21, Glendale)

  • Sacred Space Visit: Valley Unitarian Universalist (Feb. 22, Chandler)

  • Digital Security Workshop (March 2, Zoom)

  • Training of Trainers for Faith Leaders (March 4–6, Phoenix)

  • Interfaith Book Group: “God’s Bridge Over a Broken World” (March 11–April 1)

These opportunities foster deeper understanding across traditions while equipping faith leaders for thoughtful public engagement.

Why This Matters

In a time of division and fear, AFN invites faith communities into a different posture — grounded in prayer, courage, and solidarity.

As Lutherans, we believe grace frees us for neighbor. That freedom compels us to show up — not in anger, but in love.
