What’s Happening at Arizona Faith Network: March Events, Trainings, and Interfaith Opportunities
Arizona Faith Network (AFN) has released its latest weekly newsletter, highlighting upcoming opportunities for learning, advocacy, and interfaith engagement across Arizona.
The AFN newsletter, typically sent each Wednesday morning, gathers announcements, events, and partner opportunities designed to strengthen collaboration among faith communities throughout the state. Several upcoming programs may be of interest to congregations and leaders in the Grand Canyon Synod.
Among the upcoming opportunities:
AFN Social Justice Commission Meeting and Legislative Training
Thursday, March 5 | 8:30–9:30 am MST | Online via Zoom
Participants will receive an overview of how the Arizona Legislature works and learn about key bills affecting faith communities, including topics such as immigration, environmental justice, voting rights, and criminal justice reform.
Interfaith Book Group: God’s Bridge Over a Broken World
Wednesdays, March 11 – April 1 | 6:00–7:00 pm MST
Foothills Christian Church, Glendale (hybrid: in-person and Zoom)
This four-week series explores the shared foundations of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam through conversation and guest speakers from each tradition.
Interfaith Day at the Capitol
Wednesday, March 25 | 8:00 am – 4:00 pm | Arizona State Capitol
As part of the Prophetic Witness Campaign, this gathering invites people of faith to build relationships across traditions and meet with state legislators while advocating for the common good.
Sacred Site Visit: MTO Shahmaghsoudi School of Islamic Sufism
Sunday, March 22 | 2:00–4:30 pm | Scottsdale
Participants will visit a Sufi spiritual and educational community focused on compassion, ethical living, and interfaith connection.
Additional events include weekly Monday meditation sessions, a community workshop on Indigenous history and justice in Flagstaff, and a Community Healing & Health Fair in Phoenix in April offering wellness resources, screenings, and community support.
These opportunities reflect a broader commitment shared by many Lutheran congregations: seeking the common good, engaging neighbors of other faiths, and working together for justice and healing in our communities.
