Your October Voting Checklist: Key Dates Before November 3

With the November 3, 2026, general election approaching, October brings early voting and important ballot deadlines. Arizona early voting begins October 7, Nevada early voting begins October 17, and Navajo Nation applications for absentee ballots by mail are due October 19.

Reading this on October 5? Arizona’s voter registration deadline is October 5 at 11:59 p.m. Nevada’s standard registration deadline is October 6, with additional registration options available afterward.

Arizona: Early voting begins October 7

Early voting begins and early ballots start going out October 7. For readers receiving this in the October 9 newsletter, the October 5 registration deadline has passed, and early voting is underway. Review Arizona’s official election dates.

If you need to request a ballot by mail, do so by October 23. Completed ballots must reach an election official or an official drop-off location by 7 p.m. November 3; a postmark alone does not meet the deadline. Check your ballot status and plan your return well ahead of Election Day. Find mail-ballot information.

Nevada: Early voting begins October 17; registration options continue

Standard registration by mail or in person closes October 6, but online and same-day registration options remain available. Early voting runs October 17–30, with hours varying by location.

In Clark County, online registration and updates continue through October 20 with mail-ballot eligibility. Those registering or updating their registration on or after October 21 must vote in person for this election. New same-day registrants vote a provisional ballot.

Mail ballots must be postmarked by November 3 and received by 5 p.m. November 7. Review Clark County’s official registration and voting deadlines.

Navajo Nation: Request an absentee ballot by October 19

The Navajo Nation election has separate registration and absentee-voting requirements from state and federal elections. Registration closed September 24; absentee voting begins October 5.

Completed applications requesting an absentee ballot by mail must be submitted to the Navajo Election Administration by October 19 at 5 p.m. Make this a priority during the October 9–18 newsletter week. In-person absentee voting at Navajo Nation election offices continues through October 30 at 5 p.m.

Utah: Register by October 23 at 5 p.m.

Utah voters should register by October 23 at 5 p.m. to avoid needing to vote a provisional ballot. In-person registration is also available on Election Day.

Active registered voters receive a ballot by mail. Completed ballots must be received by 8 p.m. November 3. Allow time for delivery or use an official ballot drop box. Review Utah’s official election calendar and track your ballot.
